simplicity Levi hadn't been in town for long, but already, he felt like he more than belonged. Things were going well for the man, and he had found himself a new job as a jeweler in a local shop, and he quite enjoyed the parks. This mind was clear as he sat on one of the swings at dusk, his eyes glued to the sky above. Everything felt peaceful and calm. It was almost too perfect, wasn't it? There had to be some deep, dark secret that this world was hiding from him. Or perhaps he just needed to get his head out of the fantasy books and back into the real world again.

[attr="class","odele1"] black swan I PROMISED ON MY SOUL NOT TO GET CARRIED AWAY. MY HEAD STARTS SWAYING - I FORGOT WHAT IT WAS THAT I WAS SAYING. I DON'T KNOW WHERE I AM AND I'LL NEVER, NEVER MAKE IT BACK. I SEALED MY FATE AND I PAID MY DEBT, I FEEL FROM GRACE WITH DEEP REGRET. The witch was dead. The battle had taken longer than most, her magic already depleted from fighting just another one before hand and not having the time to replenish it; her precognition, as a result, was hardly up to par, and dodging attacks that she knew were coming was harder than it should have been. Not to mention it was a long-ranged fighter, unlike most, and a lack of experience with enemies using the same range as herself had her taking more hits than normal. After hours of bloody fighting, the heinous beast finally fell, but not without leaving the Magi with a horrible wound on her upper arm. Even after clearing out her soul gem with the Grief seed it left behind, blood still gushed from the gash. If it kept this up, the middle schooler doubted she would be able to make it home without collapsing due to blood loss. Foresight flashed the image of a bright-haired man, enjoying the dusk on a swing at the park less than a block away from where she stumbled about in solitude. Hanako hated having to rely on others, especially strangers, but she supposed swallowing her pride for a moment would beat dying in the middle of the streets. All she could hope was that the wound didn't scare whoever he was. More importantly: the he didn't ask any questions as to why she was out so late and how she'd gotten the cut in the first place. Taking a shortcut through some bushes, sure enough, the white-haired girl found the man she'd seen with her powers. Clutching the cut to apply pressure and – hopefully – cover up the worst of it to make it look a little better, she shakily called out to him, “ U-um, excuse me, mister... Do you have a bandage I could use?” 0000 Words ● Levi Hayward ● hey, hope it's alright to pop in. ^^ [newclass=.odele1]width:500px;height:85px;margin-left:-50px;background-color:#e8ba23;color:#f5f5f5;text-shadow:1px 1px 0px rgba(0,0,0,.25);position:relative;z-index:1;font-size:8px;line-height:100%;[/newclass]

simplicity Levi was long gone in his musings, his mind spiraling with the light breeze that swept the leaves in the dim light of the setting sun. If it wasn't for the stark quietness of the evening, he wouldn't have even noticed the quiet voice that spoke to him, and for a moment, he thought it may have been just the wind itself or perhaps someone off in the distance talking to someone else. But as he realized the quietness afterward, he pulled himself from his thoughts and turned to see not only a girl standing a few feet from him but also a small trickle of blood that had managed to escape from the bottom of her hand.
Levi's lips parted for a moment and he was about to ask what had happened, but interrogating wasn't what this girl needed. He thoughtlessly patted at his pockets to find something - anything - to cover the wound and found only his wallet. Well, it was better than nothing, and the money inside could at least be used to buy something for her. "Would you mind terribly if we go buy something for it?" he asked, a light frown setting on his pale features. "I don't have any bandages on me now, but there is a corner store about two blocks away. I can pay for everything, so don't worry."
He stood from his seat and turned to the direction of the store, his eyes fixed in a fatherly gaze on the other.

He didn't turn to face her right away. Whatever the reason – lost in thoughts, not having heard her, perhaps even ignoring the plea of an injured young girl – the delayed reaction sparked irritation in the easily angered child. Teeth gritting slightly, though the shadows would easily hide her twisted features, she prepared to repeat herself with more force, only to watch him turn around and meet her eye. Well, he wasn't ignoring her, at least; this had her softening a bit. She watched from a distance as he patted down his person, probably looking for something that would serve as what she had requested, but came up empty. Of course. What an idiot she was; who even would lug around a first aid kit, much less a bandage needed for as bad a wound as her own? His lips parted and she was certain, certain this was the moment he would confirm that she was flat out of luck. Thankfully, it was not. “ Would you mind terribly if we go buy something for it? I don't have any bandages on me now, but there is a corner store about two blocks away. I can pay from everything, so don't worry.” Hana could only blink at him, shocked, as he stood from his spot. Wait, wait, wait. He was offering to buy her bandages? Buy something for a complete stranger who'd imposed on him? He wasn't even asking why she needed them or how she'd gotten herself hurt. If Lady Luck had been angry to send her that witch from before, perhaps this was her way of saying “sorry” afterward. But was it worth it to trust the man? Using her future sight provided nothing – she was so worn out, the images were growing less clear by the second and only exhausted her further. Ill intent or not, though, she needed medical attention. Better to risk it and regret it later than collapse on the ground and not get the chance to regret it at all. “ I'll pay you back.” It wasn't her asking permission, and it most certainly wasn't up for debate – Hanako was already belittling herself enough to have to ask for help, but under no circumstances was she going to let someone spend money on her. If she'd had any money on her, in fact, she would have ditched him right then and there to buy them herself. “ ... Thanks,” she said, more of an afterthought than anything. Even if she was begrudgingly accepting his help, it was still help, and manners dictated that she thank him for it. simplicity The corner of his lip turned upward into a relaxed smile, and Levi began leading the way to the store. "You don't have to pay me back if it's too much of a hassle. I'm not in need of money so much that I would ask for anything back." He had been in a few scrapes of his own - thankfully nothing serious and mostly self-imposed from his lack of observational skills - but had learned that instead of putting it off like he wanted, the best thing to do was simply to suck it up and treat the wound as fast as possible. He was just glad that this girl had sought help rather than just letting it go opened, and even though he wasn't sure of the severity of the injury, his instincts simply drove him to help her like his parents had helped him when he still lived around them. If she was able to ask in the first place, though, that meant that she was going to be fine, and that helped put him at ease. His anxiety ha spiked for only a moment, and he quickly settled it down with that thought.
He allowed the silence to linger for a moment as they walked toward the store, and finally, he turned to look down at her with the same smile. "Sorry for the belated introduction. I'm Levi Hayward, but you can just call me Levi." Being half-Japanese allowed him the pleasure of not having an accent, but he was certain that everyone around him could see his heritage.

The stranger grinned down at her, feet pulling him two where she could only assume the aforementioned corner store was supposed to be. She hesitated only a moment before walking along a few strides behind him, bloodied fingers grabbing at the gash all the tighter. As they made their way out of the park, he said to her, “ You don't have to pay me back if it's too much of a hassle. I'm not in need of money so much that I would ask for anything back.” She'd already seen that coming, foresight or no; nothing he said would be able to deter her from her decision, though. “ I'll pay you back,” she repeated a little louder with a little more conviction. “ It's not a hassle.” Thinking back on it, though, perhaps it was; how was she going to locate him and give him the approximate amount of the things needed to treat her injury? More than that was the fact that, as a middle schooler, to say she was a little pressed for funds was a grave understatement. She probably had enough to buy three gumballs out of a gumball machine; maybe she'd snatch a few extra dollars from her overachiever of a sister when Michiko wasn't looking. Moments ticked by as the fourteen-year-old continued to scowl at the mental image of her twin, hating how all of the good traits she, herself, could have had were skipped in favor of the girl born just minutes before her. She was so busy scowling and cursing silently at her own thoughts that, in fact, that she almost missed the words that came tumbling from her companion's mouth. “ Sorry for the belated introduction. I'm Levi Hayward, but you can just call me Levi.” Introductions? She supposed those were only natural if you were going to be spending more than five minutes with a person. The white-haired Magi meant to tell him her name in turn, but her mouth ended up moving faster than her brain. “ That's not Japanese.” Embarrassed at her own sudden – and slightly rude – comment, the female halted in her tracks and slapped her hands over her mouth. Why did I say that? she cried silently. Idiot, idiot, idiot! Coughing a few times to clear her throat, she tried to amend, “ U-uh, I mean – I'm Nakahara Hanako.” Taking a few huge steps in order to catch up with him again, Hana reminded herself to try and play it cool. “ No one really calls me it, but I guess Hana's easier to say than my whole name.” [newclass=.odele1]width:500px;height:85px;margin-left:-50px;background-color:#e8ba23;color:#f5f5f5;text-shadow:1px 1px 0px rgba(0,0,0,.25);position:relative;z-index:1;font-size:8px;line-height:100%;[/newclass]

simplicity Levi's smile hadn't faltered at all, and in fact it grew at her determination to pay her back. That sounded much like something he would say, but she was much too young to have a job of her own, so while he didn't say anything further, he had already prepared himself to not get anything in return other than her company for a few moments. He supposed that this was the reason he was out tonight rather than reading a book like he normally would: everything happened for a reason, and his purpose tonight was to give aid to this young lady.
At the comment, Levi turned back only to find that she had stopped cold, hands clasped over her mouth and eyes wide. He only laughed lightly at the sight and took no offense. He was so used to explaining himself that he almost always expected something to be said about it when first meeting someone. It was a surprise when it wasn't a topic of conversation, to say the least. "I'll call you whichever you prefer." His smile softened from amusement back to its normal state. "My mother is Japanese and my father is Briti-" He cut himself off when he noticed that she had forgotten to cover her arm, and the severity of the wound finally showed itself. "Worse than I thought," he muttered lightly, eyes betraying his worry.
"I don't mean to make you rush, but I would like to get that treated as soon as possible," he said, keeping his composure and quickly turning to start walking, this time with a bit more urgency in his steps but making sure not to stray too far from Hana.

He never responded to her insistence to pay him back – not in words, anyway, and she couldn't quite see whatever sort of facial reaction he'd had, given his back was to her. She almost preferred it that. He couldn't comment on the likelihood of a young girl paying back a grown adult if he didn't speak aloud, and it left her extra time to think of how she'd steal from her sister, or what sort of and how many shores she'd have to do to earn enough to make up for all the trouble she was causing him. Maybe a month's worth of deep house cleaning; really, it all depended on how much the medical supplies would cost. The throbbing in her upper arm and the blood that continued to drop through her fingers warned her that it would be a lot more than she was hoping for. The strange- no, Levi turned around at her sudden comment, an action she was so sure he was upset with her and her impoliteness. Instead of yelling, though, or barking out something mean, he simply... laughed. Huh. Was that a normal way to react? It wasn't sardonic, either – a genuine laugh that almost could have been contagious, should he have been laughing at a girl who hadn't smiled in what seemed like an eternity. “ I'll call you whichever you prefer,” he said, still smiling. He went on to continue before cutting himself off, “ My mother is Japanese and my father is Briti-” The way the word died before it could reach completion had her even more confused than when he'd burst into laughter earlier. It wasn't until she looked down to both her hands – one bloody and one not – that she realized she'd left the result of the witch's attack open and on display. Darnit the white-haired girl thought to herself, hand instinctively moving slowly toward the wound in order to apply pressure to it once more. “ Worse than I thought. I don't mean to make you rush, but I would like to get that treated as soon as possible,” Levi said, voice started as little more than a mumble she could hardly make out to words meant to be heard. As he turned around with a quickened pace, all she could think about was the concerned look that had graced his eyes. Why was he so worried? She was just some girl who'd interrupted what had probably been a peaceful twilight. Not wanting to think about it, she instead broke the silence with: “ ... I'd prefer Hana.” If she'd had more friends – any at all, really, social interaction wasn't exactly her forte – Hanako imagined that would be what they would call her. It was a shame she'd probably never get to bump into him again for him to call her than anymore than once or twice; the fourteen-year-old thought it would be nice to hear it roll of someone else's tongue. “ It's not, um, that bad,” she said, not wanting him to get worried over her too much. Or at all, really. She was a magical girl; hits like this should have been a piece of cake for her. Beyond that, she wasn't worth his concern. Not worth it at all.
